Hello to all,

I'm new to the whole wireless network scene.

Had a Linksys 802.11G setup and it worked fine. I returned it for a 802.11b system because I needed the additional distance which the 802.11g did not provide. Now, I have a problem.

So far, my network consist of a wireless laptop and a USB adapter on the kids computer. Everything worked perfectly until I turn off SSID. When I turn it off, the kids USB adapter disconnects and I cannot get connected. The laptop works great with SSID turned off. I made sure that the Network key is correct. I tried Open and Shared. I tried enable IEEE 802.1x. Nothing works. When I turn on SSID, it connects fine.?????
Any suggestions would be appreciated
thank you,

Greenstead

In the wireless settings on the connection you can add a 'preferred network'. You enter the SSID name there and that should enable it to connect.

You could also try the driver configuration and put the SSID in the settings there.

I think that should do it.

Hello and thank you for responding.
I did setup in Preferred Network, entered the SSID and WEB key. Still nothing. Strange. Are there any other settings? I copied the same exact setup for all options the same as on the laptop.
thank you
