hi
i just bought some usb benq (awl300) wireless adapters. one is on my laptop and the other on my desktop.
now im using the built in winxp wireless software. the software i got with the adapters seems to also use the windows settings. the thing is, i walk around with the laptop and watch the signal on the xp status bar. i thought the speed would drop from the 11mbps when i got futher away, but it doesnt seem to. the signal will drop to very poor and its still says 11mbs.
in the software from benq i set the speed to fixed 11 mbps and go as far as i can. then change to auto, which id thought would lower the speed to increase the range, but it doesnt.
i just wondered if anyone using xp uses the built in software. does the speed mentioned drop and range increase ?
i can get around 30 feet indoors at the monent
thanks
matt
