OK, so I bought 2 D-Link 802.11g Access Points. One is going on my computer, which was the DHCP server for our Ethernet LAN, as well as the Internet connection server.
Then the other AP is on a separate computer. I want my AP to be an Access Point, and the other one to be the Client.
For this whole wireless experiment, I basically broke my ethernet network into two pieces. I have The remainder of my network all connected up using a total of 2 mini-switches in 2 diff. locations. I will now have my computer plugged right into the AP.
This is my very first wireless networking experience, so Im gonna need lotsa help.
Where do i go from here?
First thing I did was to make sure that the AP's were under two separate IP addresses. My AP's IP is 192.168.0.51, and the other is *.50.
I set mine to AP, and entered my MAC address in the setup of the other AP when I configured it to Client. Although it seems theres no joy..
I have no idea..
I tried Bridge Mode as well, and placed in the MACs of both APs in the other APs setup config.
Please help!
Im probably pretty unclear in my explanation, so please ask me what needs clarification. As ive never dealt with wireless before, im not sure what information is worth mentioning.
Please help, Im pretty upset I cant get this crazyness to work..
