Need advice on what to buy for home wireless network

I am thinking about setting up a home wireless network.I will use it to share internet access from a desktop to two laptops.My internet access will be direcway satalite interenet installed on the desktop.I would like to share this wirelessly to my two laptops.What equipment do I need ?Wireless Access point or router?or what , I do not even know the differance between the two.I would like what ever is easiest to set up.Can anyone also recomened a brand.

Go a little carefull if you consider a router for a satellite system. Some can only use special routers (and this was the case with Direcway in the past). Call Direcway and check before buying anything.
