Am about to try and do the wireless thing, but first I would like to know if it is doable first due to location of my PCs.

One PC is in one house, and will have a Cable Internet connection. Two other PCs are in a house next door above a garage. They are the same elevation (both on second floor) and the only thing between them is... One wall, 20-30 feet of outside air, another wall, and ten feet of space to the other two computers.

What I want to do if possible is...

First Computer, connect through cable modem
First computer sends signal through wireless card
Second computer recieves signal in second house.
Second and third computer shares that signal through two existing hardwired NIC cards.

I know the Internet sharing is possible through the use of the NIC cards, I dont want to use a router if possible.

I am curious about performance due to signal being transmitted the the outside air

1st computer (win98)
2nd computer (winxp)
3rd Computer (win98)

If it were me, I would save yourself a lot of headaches and get a wireless router. Plug your Cable into it and then all the PC's share that connection. I guess you could set it up the way you are talking about, but what happens when the first PC is off? And the second? You will not have access from the thrid PC. I imagine you are prob trying to do it with as little $$ as possible, but it could end up being a huge headache. The range should not be a problem, but then again, every location is diffrent.

Also, be careful sharing that connection, I dunow if you own the other location or not, but I am pretty sure the cable company will frown on the setup.

Let me know, hope that helps-
