Right now I have a wired network consisting of a Win2k machine that dials the internet, and is running ICS, that has a 100BaseT card connecting to a 5 port switch. Two other PCs and a laptop hang off the switch and share the internet via the dialup machine.

I want to connect the laptop via wireless instead. To save money, can I just put a wireless card in the Win2K dialup machine (and of course a wireless card in the laptop)?

1. How will the ICS software handle it? Will it assign an address to the wireless card (which will be a 3rd NIC in that machine) and share the internet connection through it at the same time as the wired card?

2. Will Windows bridge the wired and wireless subnets together?

Hmmm. Why dont you just get a Wireless Access Point and plug it into the Switch?

It's just, as I said, to save money. Access points are typically twice the price of wireless NICs. If ICS can't handle it, then I will in fact buy an access point instead.

Well friend, I do not know how ICS will handle the setup you are suggesting. Ive only attempted to use it once and did not have good luck with it. There is prob some people on here that have set up something like what you are wanting to do, maybe they can help you a little better than me. = )

Anyway...

Good Luck-
