ICS and WINXP / WIN ME help ?? im confused

ok so im running WIN XP with 2 different netcards and ICS
this is the host computer .
the other computer is running WIN ME and has a net card

iget intermitant net connections for the client computer

i seem to have problems getting it to find the internet for no aparent reason.

i reboot all computers and some times this helps

i unplug net cables sometimes this helps

this latest problem has got me very confused ?????

the sharing computer is now connected the host computer (in the second NIC) using standard network wiring for ICS except for one difference .....

the client computer is now using a crossover cable ( i was frustrated and after trying everything i could thing of i tryed the crossover cable

AND NOW I HAVE A NET CONNECTION

any information on how to fix this problem ???
im lost and confused

i 'm sure that its a problem with WIN ME because i had a lot of problems with internet when i was running WIN 98 SE on the host
