wireless and Dial-up

Hi, I have a Desktop and a laptop that I would like to network. I dont have broadband as of yet and am stuck with dial-up for a while. Anyway I have a Farallon wireless Broadband router, that I would like to use as a Wireless sending unit to my laptop, just to share files between the two computers and if possible an internet connection.
I have NIC's installed in both the desktop and laptop, with the laptop being wireless.
howevr I cant get any of these to talk to each other. I am running Windows XP in both.
